I am pretty excited. I have NO idea if will be able to play it.
Luckily it is the same tuning and scales as a mandolin, so I have some edge going into it.
The hardest parts will be it being fretless and ESPECIALLY hard figuring out who to use a bow properly.
I have been brushing up on some mandolin scales today and watching violin tutorials to get myself read.
I will probably start by using my fingers to pluck string so I can get used to the fretless for a few days and then move on to learning how to use the bow on open notes then start doing simple scales and stuff. Who knows though.
If I feel like it is something worth sticking with at the end, I will probably use my tax return to buy a decent one.
Luckily youtube has a plethora of musical tutorials and there are great sites for learning scales.
I highly suggest this site. http://www.studybass.com/tools/chord-scale-note-printer/
This free program has chords/scale charts for most string instruments including Violin, Viola, Bass, Guitar, Mando, Banjo, Cello, Uke, Lutes etc. I will be on this a lot this
