An article about addiction by Jamie Lee Curtis
The 20 year old that Jamie Lee Curtis references at the end of this article is someone I knew and considered a friend. My mother taught him in school and was very close with him. Also, He was the cousin of someone who’m I would consider to be one of the people I hold closest to my heart. He was not famous himself, but his father is.
Addiction does NOT discriminate. Whether you are famous, rich, poor, middle class, etc. it does not matter. People are so gross about people over-dosing. The amount of ignorance in the world that surrounds people’s ill-feelings toward folks with addiction issues and/or that have over-dosed is absurd. Addiction is not simply a choice. It is genetic. It is often accompanied by mental illness and depression which is why so many people try to self-medicate themselves.
There are demons that lead to addiction. No, I do not mean made up demons from the bible… I am talking about physical and mental issues that not only lead to addictive drugs, but make them the BIGGEST priority in your life.
